I’m originally from a small town in the mountains of East Tennessee. I’ve called multiple states home over the years, but I’ve lived in Texas since 2007. During my career, I've focused on implementing health information technology to improve and save lives. Now that I’m retired, I enjoy focusing on my hobbies: photography, painting (oil and acrylic), reading, gardening, genealogy, piano, and travel. I love spending time with my two favorite souls – my husband, Matamba, and my dog, a Briard named Zupa.
I have a passion and gift for photography that I enjoy sharing with others. I love taking photos, editing them, and then giving them away. I especially love the collaboration of creating art out of someone else’s art (actors, dancers, figure skaters, musicians, etc.). This is not a business. I will never try to sell you anything. My “payout” is the joy you get from my photographs.
I am a human (pronouns she/her) who believes that no one is less than or better than anyone else because of the color of their skin, their country of origin, the religion they choose to practice or not, who they love, their self-defined gender, their level of social, economic, or educational status, or their chosen occupation. I believe we must stand up against injustice, strive to understand the lived experience of others, and practice kindness, empathy, and connection. I know all life matters, but I also know that we, as a society, do not live that value. I believe we must do better. I stand with my Black family. I stand with my LGBTQ family. I stand for women’s rights and the rights of all marginalized people. I stand with anyone struggling to maintain their mental health. I stand for protecting our planet and all the life it contains.
If you've received some of my photos as a gift and we haven't had the chance to connect (at all or not lately), I'd love to hear from you - what did you think of the photos, how did they make you feel when you first saw them, how do they make you feel now, which were your favorites, how have you used them, how can I improve. Also, if a photo you've seen or something you've read on this site resonates with you and you would like to suggest a photography project, please reach out so that we can explore the possibilities. I'm always looking for new projects.
